The Parable of Leaven
Mat 13:33 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
Luk 13:20 And again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God?
Luk 13:21 It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
Explanation of the parable
The woman is a common symbol of evil in the moral or religious sphere, example the Whore of Rev.
The leaven is used in 4 ways in the New Testament just read all passages regarding the Pharisees, Sadducees and Herodians. Leaven is used to portray evil, and corruption of the one true religion which Jesus taught.
The 3 measures of meal illustrate Christ as the Bread of life and the Word of God.
The parable illustrates how the Kingdom of Heaven would become like leaven which a woman used to corrupt Christ and His teachings!
Tell you what! That lump is rising, and soon will go into the oven!
You better cut down on puffed up bread and start eating unleavened bread which was a type of Christ don’t you know?
