Are you a Jesus freak?

Do you pray to Jesus?

If you answered:  “YES!”

Then STOP IT!

When it comes to whom to address in prayer. Don’t listen to friends and family, don’t listen to Pastors, and don’t even listen to fellow Christians on Facebook! Listen to Jesus!

Neither Jesus, nor any of the writers of the New Testament ever mentioned praying to Jesus!

Mat_6:6  But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Mat_6:9  After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Jesus while on Earth ALWAYS prayed to the Father, when the Disciples ask Him how to pray He showed them the right way!

Pray to thy Father

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father

OK so we have learned whom to address in our prayer now what?

Once you pray to God you simply ASK in Jesus’ name! That’s the Christians Power of Attorney!

Joh_14:13  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Joh_14:14  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Joh_14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Joh_15:16  Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Joh_16:23  And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

Joh_16:24  Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

Joh_16:26  At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

Our relation to God the Father and Jesus

Joh 15:1  I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

Joh 15:2  Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

The Father is the husbandman

The Son is the true vine

We are the branches

Mat 7:21  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Who has more power in the verses above?

That’s right The Father!

The Father is the head of Christ!

1Co 11:3  But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

So if you are going to pray do it right and learn once and for all your relationship with the Godhead!

The same rule applied to the Old Testament!

Deu 6:4  Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

Mar 12:29  And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

Mar 12:30  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Mar 12:31  And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
