Jesus’ Eternal Sonship Expounded

The word Son in connection with Jesus does not refer to His Deity, but (the first “but” of 4) to His humanity!

As God, Christ Jesus had no beginning, was not begotten, and was not the only begotten Son of God the Father.

BUT! I love the “but” parts!

As a man He did have a beginning, He was the only begotten Son of the Father, and had an earthly mother, Mary.

As God he has been around from all eternity!

Mic 5:2  But (Here is another “But”) thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forthhave been from of old, from everlasting.

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Joh 1:2  The same was in the beginning with God.

Col 1:17  And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Rev 1:8  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

As a man He was born in Bethlehem about 2,000 years ago, lived a perfectly sinless life died at the age of 33 ½ years of age, was buried, and was resurrected 3 nights and 3 days later to eternal life with a glorified body!

As God He created all things in the heavens and on earth, He is known in the Old Testament as Jehovah (which means self-existent)

He was in the Garden of Eden and played with Adam in the sandbox creating all land animals and letting Adam name them!

He was fed by Abraham, He was Moshe’s God in the wilderness, He was God until that day Mary got pregnant by the Holy Ghost!

Since then He is known as the God-Man.

For in order to save man from sin and death He had to be an equal with man.

This is where the kenosis of Christ comes in!

Php 2:5  Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Php 2:6  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

Php 2:7  But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

Php 2:8  And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Php 2:9  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

Php 2:10  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

Php 2:11  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

When the Second person of the Divine Trinity decided to become a man he put off all His Divine attributes!

1)      Omnipotence

2)      Omniscience

3)      Omnipresence

4)      Eternity

5)      Immutability

As God He of His own free will decided to put aside all His Godly attributes and come down to the level of the creature which He created to show that man could have lived a sinless life if he of his own free will he chose to obey God instead of Lucifer.

His coming down to the level of man is no new teaching!

The first prophecy of His coming was shortly after the fall of man!

Gen 3:15  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

The prophecy above teaches that Lucifer would bruise His heel (Temporary suffering)

BUT! (I told you I love them “But” statements!”

He would bruise Lucifer’s head, and like in all zombie movies a blow to the head and they are dead for good!
