Definition of “Church”

From a compound of G1537 and a derivative of G2564; a calling out, that is, (concretely) a popular meeting, especially a religious congregation (Jewish synagogue, or Christian community of members on earth or saints in heaven or both): - assembly, church.

A church is simply a gathering of called out people of God who get together to worship and praise God the Father and Son, Jesus Christ that is, for after all He is the HEAD of the Church, for He founded it!

The Bible teaches about two Godly Churches, or called out people.

Act 7:37  This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.

Act 7:38  This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

1)      The first Church was the calling of the children of Israel, who refused to listen to the Pastor!

This church was an earthly calling.

This church was mainly blessed with earthly blessing.

This church will have Jerusalem as its earthly Capital.

2)      The second Church is the calling of both Jews and Gentiles who refuse to deny that Jesus Christ is their Savior and God.

This church is a heavenly calling.

This church is blessed with heavenly blessings.

This church has the New Jerusalem as its Capital.

Then of course you have satanic churches which have their own gatherings to worship and praise their own god, Lucifer.

Any church that does not put Christ first is a church you should leave and never go back.

The Jewish church is such an example!

Act 7:39  To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,

Rev_3:9  Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

The main goal of the Church is to evangelize!

Mar_16:15  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Luk_4:18  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Act_16:10  And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

Rom_1:15  So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.

Rom_10:15  And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Rom_15:20  Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation:

1Co_1:17  For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

1Co_9:14  Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

1Co_9:16  For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

1Co_9:18  What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

2Co_2:12  Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,

2Co_10:16  To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man's line of things made ready to our hand.

Any church can start out with 2 or 3 members, but it is required to grow, saving souls is the main goal of the church.

It is up to all members to preach the Gospel; the Pastor is there for the flock to teach them the simplicity of the Gospel.

The only requirement for the Universal Church of Christ is simple!
