We were first introduced to Leviathan by Job, Job also was the first to introduce us to Satan, AKA Lucifer. Remember the book of Job is the oldest book of the Old Testament, it was written before Moses wrote His book(s).
Below are the verses that specifically mention Leviathan.
Job_41:1 Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?
Psa_74:14 Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.
Psa_104:26 There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.
Isa_27:1 In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.
Leviathan comes from Hebrew and means a serpent or dragon.
Let’s leave it at that for now!
The Bible also uses the “Law of Double Reference.”
Here is a perfect example of that law, somethings are said that cannot possibly apply to a visible creature, and thus apply to an invisible creature.
Another example of the “Law of Double Reference” can be found in Genesis 3:15
Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
We know that the seed of the woman was Christ Jesus, and regarding the serpent, he was the visible part, but the prophecy was directed at the invisible, Lucifer AKA, the serpent in this case.
Psa_74:14 Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness. BTW the inhabitants of the wilderness are the Jews! In the last days they will be in the wilderness, in Petra the rock city to be exact!
If you read the verse above, you will quickly notice that Job never mentioned that leviathan had multiple heads, you can read Job’s full description of leviathan in Job chapter 41!
So how can we be sure this applies to Lucifer, AKA Satan, The Serpent, Dragon?
By reading other passages that mention Him or his aliases!
Isa_27:1 In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.
In the verse above please notice, “In that day!” referring to the “Day of the Lord” when Christ comes back to Earth.
Need more proof that this leviathan is Lucifer then time to go into the New Testament!
Rev 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
Rev 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great Rev 12:3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
Rev 12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
Rev 12:5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
Rev 12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
Rev 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Rev 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
Rev 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
Rev 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
Rev 16:14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
Rev 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Rev 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
Let’s discuss “Heads”
Psa_74:14 Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.
In the verse above we have no clue as to how many heads this leviathan had, but in the verse below we know for sure how many heads he has!
Rev 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
The Seven heads represent the 7 World Empires that have and will have oppressed the Jews in the “Times of the Gentiles”
Those empires are:
1) Egypt
2) Assyria
3) Babylon
4) Medo-Persia
5) Greece
6) Roman
7) REVISED Roman Empire with 10 kings (See Daniel verse below!)
Dan_7:24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
Then once the Little Horn of Daniel shows up the Dragon will give all his power to the little horn, AKA the Antichrist, the Beast, and thus it will be the last empire to oppress the Jews and that empire is called the “REVIVED Grecian Empire”
Rev_13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
The reason the world wondered is because they have been taught that the Roman Empire will be the last, but as Scripture clearly states, the Revived Grecian Empire is the last before the 9th and final Kingdom is established here on Earth, and that one will be governed by Christ Jesus and all the saints from Abel’s time.
You too can partake in that Kingdom, for partaking in any other one will seal your doom in the Lake of Fire!
